Again we covered 600+ miles, traversing New Mexico, the Texas panhandle, Oklahoma and entering Arkansas. We noted that neither of us have been here before. A new state for US bingo!
The scenery changed today. About halfway through Oklahoma we entered woodlands and realized that we were leaving the plains. Sharon noted that the woods looked like those we saw in Kentucky when we lived in the midwest thirty years ago. Duhhh!! This is the far southwestern reach of Transylvania, not the Carpathians of Dracula, but the great forested woodland that occupied most of what is today the central US before the Europeans destroyed it. Cool! (not the destruction, the woodlands)
Because we are traveling, we did not stop to take pictures or sight see. This will be the first stop on our tour of the southern US.
Rosa kept an eye on it all.
