The exhibit opens with Gehry's love letter to LA After the Getty, we decided to carry through the theme of Los Angeles architecture.  Our friend Howie had to go save lives on Monday, so we waited until Tuesday to tour the LA County Museum of Art's Frank Gehry exhibit. I'm not big on pictures of museum exhibits, but this one is so cool in that it shows process, that is how the artist (and he is an artist) works. Even at 86 Gehry is exploring new methods and materials. This wall is made of a composeable cellulose material that can be set in all manner of shaped Models . . . and drawings

 After a leisurely journey down the coast we arrived in LA for a few days' vacation spent with some old friends from grad school days. Realizing how little time we have spent being tourists in LA since we left in 1982 our friends set us a number of options so on Sunday we went to the Getty Museum in Sepulveda Pass between the San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles. We barely touched on the collections but got an architectural tour of Richard Meier's Modernist/Postmodern masterwork. We were, by the way, blessed with the kind of clear day that we almost never got when we lived here in the 1970s and 1980s. We could see all the way out to Catalina.

This year I asked Sharon to join me at the LA Pen Show, so of course we decided to make a mini-vacation of it. So here we are in Avila Beach just north of the famed Pismo Beach. I did not bring my camera (should have) but the iPhone 6 has a decentish camera. A few shots at sunset.    And, of course, Ms. Rosa, on her way to her second pen show, observes it all from her lifeguard station in our nautically themed room.
