********************************************************************
As I have noted elsewhere, we are in transition at The PENguin. I hope to be able to introduce our new interim webmaster and get a very substantial update onto the site in the next two weeks.
In the meantime the lists below reflect part of the update: if you see something you like, please contact me (rickpropas@comcast.net) citing the inventory number (PE34XX, etc.) and I will send images and any additional information.
-->
-->
We also have available one M101N Lizard with a Broad nib. If
anyone wants it shoot me an e-mail quick.
I may or may not not be able to get any more. The price is $525.00.

Montblancs
G5MB2968-1950s Montblanc 142 G in black celluloid with gold
filled trim. This is one of the early
postwar Montblancs that retained all the quality of the early Montblancs. The nib, as stamped on the turning knob, is a
bicolor medium with excellent flexibility. The pen is in excellent restored
condition. $295.00
|
G5MB2969-1980s Montblanc 146 in black resin with gold filled
trim. This modern MB has a bicolor 14 K
medium nib and the metal filler threads, with a short clear gray ink
window. It is in excellent condition.
$250.00
|
G5MB2972-1930s Montblanc IIIb in black and pearl. This
classic button filler is in excellent condition with better than average color.
The nib is an original, correct Warranted b 14C with moderate flex. This
uncommon pen is complete, correct and without flaw. $900.00
|
G5MB2973-1950s Montblanc 254 in black celluloid with gold
filled trim. One of the classic MBs of
the 1950s, many people argue that the nibs on these are among the best ever
made by a company noted for its nibs.
This pen is in excellent condition with a superb OBB 14 C nib. $275.00

G5MB2974-1960s Montblanc 22 in black resin. This is a pen
you can take anywhere and do anything with, strictly user grade. Why? Because
it has a crack about 15 mm lengthwise down the back of the cap. On request I will do a repair and/or you can
cover the crack with the clip. The nib
is a medium stub so it writes well. Where ya gonna get a pen like this for
$65.00.

G5MB2975-1960s Montblanc 24 in clear resin. Ahhhh, what to
say about this pen? It’s a demonstrator and it’s a Montblanc. The plastic on these is really frangible and
this one is cracked through. It’s been used and shows traces of ink. I doubt that
it is useable, but has a medium stub nib. But you can have a Montblanc demo for
the low, low price of $125.00

G5MB2976-1930s Montblanc 422 in red mottled hard rubber.
This is a highly uncommon Montblanc both in red mottled hard rubber and with a
glass stylus. The pen pretty much speaks for itself. The hard rubber is clear
with good color and strong imprints except for some high point wear. A strong addition to any MB collection.

G5MB2977-1930s Montblanc Sarastro 14 Karat Gold Faceted
Overlay. Another pen that simply speaks for itself. Sarastro was the “official”
jeweler for MB and created exquisite pens. This one is push button (druckknopf)
filler. The nib is marked 14 Carat with the M logo, it’s a medium. The pen is
in near perfect condition, the enamel star is perfect, as well. A superb pen
and bound to be the capstone to any Montblanc collection. $6,000.00

G5MB2978-1939 Montblanc 14 K Faceted Jewelers Overlay Safety
Pen. If there is one pen I wish I could keep from this purchase, this is it.
The craftsmanship on this unmarked overlay is superb, every bit the equal of
that done by Sarastro. What adds to the interest on this is the captop which
features a five pointed star, suggesting that the pen was sold to the Arabic
middle east. Also discreetly engraved as part of the captop is the date May 24,
1939 in European format 39-5-24. The nib is a Montblanc 1 14Ct. I’ve not tested
the seals but they feel good. The pen is without flaw. $6,000.00

MB3002-ca1949 Montblanc 144 in 14 K solid gold, fishscale
pattern. This is the first of the postwar luxury Montblancs, earlier than the
744 designation. This pen is in very
good condition, with a bit of light marking to the indicia and a bit of a
posting ring at the barrel. Otherwise excellent, free of dents and dings, two
small marks to the turning knob. Another superb pen. 14 K bicolor medium nib, a
superb writer. $3,500.00

January 2013/Misc Pens
G5IT2983-1950s Quadretti Colorado in red laminated
celluloid. This is one of the iconic
postwar pens, a massive double nibbed pen that really speaks for itself. These pens are usually found in very good
condition and this one is a bit cleaner than that. No brassing, and good color
to the celluliod. One side actually does take up ink, it you want to see what
it’s like to write with this legend. Given what these pens usually sell for
this is a bargain at $4,500.00
|
G5OT2962-1936 Chilton Wing-Flow King George VI Coronation
Set of Fountain Pen and Mechanical Pencil in burgundy celluloid in the box and
in excellent condition. I’ve restored it, but have not polished it. Not much
more to say about this most highly prized of the Wing-Flows. The nib is in
excllent original condition, a fine with a hint of flex. The box is in excellent condition, though I
did restring the elastic. Both pieces bear the original inlaid initials “CTM.”
The set is unmarked and shows no brassing. This is priced to sell at $2,000.00
|
G5OT2963-1930s Chilton leather covered set of fountain pen
and Mechanical Pencil. Among the most beautiful of the early Boston Chiltons
are the leather covered pens. I got these as a set and am selling them as such,
even though the pencil in celluloid appears to be later than the pen in hard
rubber. The leater on the pen is
slightly shrunken and the hard rubber slightly faded, but both pieces are in
excellent condition. The nib is a fine
Chilton with superb flex. Hard to price this set, since these so rarely show
up, but I think this is fair. $1,200.00

PE3013-1930s
Pelikan Maenner 14 Karat solid gold overlay in the less common crosshatch
pattern. The pen is fully restored and ready to become a spectacular user. It's
a user because it has issues. The cap has a few dents and gouges-nothing truly
horrible. The barrel overlay is pretty clean except at the top where it has one
3 mm area of irregularity and a 7 x .5 mm strip where the material is
gone. The turning knob and the cone are
fairly well dinged. So that's the bad news. The good news is that the pen is
presentable and all the issues are fixable, except that I don't have the time.
Were this pen perfect, it would be $5,000. So, as is, $2,000.00

WA2997-1930s
Waterman’s 58 Red Ripple hard rubber. This pen, which comes out of my personal
collection, is in excellent condition with good color and sound imprints. The
hardrubber pattern aligns well and there is absolutely no brassing to trim. The
nib is a fine accountant, no flex. The only reason I’m selling this one is
because I got a 78 eyedropper. $1,600.00
