Along the Gulf: Part I

Thursday saw us traveling slowly(!) along the Gulf on secondary and tertiary roads from New Orleans, through southern Mississippi, to Mobile, Alabama.

Our route took us along US 90 to Alabama 188 to AL 193 and along AL 163 into Mobile.

For your viewing pleasure, a few scenes from along the drive.

From here we go inland and northeast to Birmingham, Gatlinsburg, Tennessee to Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley for a family event and after that back down to Charleston, Savannah, Florida and back to the Gulf.

Houses along the gulf lifted to protect against surges

Jefferson Davis, Sons of the Confederacy? This stop is all on Sharon.
His house. He lived here in the 1870s and 1880s until his 1889 death.
