Knives and Rocks

July 4th and 5th saw us on the Northern part of the Oregon Coast, from Bandon to Garibaldi to Astoria, ending up in Portland by the afternoon of the 5th.

This coast is one of our favorite places and we are up here once a year usually cutting across to Ashland through Grant's Pass, but every few years we go all the way up the coast to Lincoln City or Astoria and then to Portland as we did this year
Ever since I first saw the Oregon Coast almost twenty years ago I have been in love with it.

Part of it is the interface of surf and rocks

And tidepools

Each year, though, we see more development

A not terribly lighthouse image

And east of Astoria, the Columbia River

Oregon is a center of knife making and one of the shops along the coast was having a retirement sale.
By the same folks as make the guns, this a 1990 reissue of their R-1306 classic

Not collectible and not related to Parker Pens, but I liked the stonework

A Case classic
