Down East

Wednesday saw us traveling from Northampton, Mass to Portland, Maine via Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Using back roads on a gorgeous day, all our touring was from behind the windshield, so the images are sketchy. Thursday we plan to tour the old port, hook up with pen buddy Carla Mortensen for lunch and then on Friday press on to Fredericton, New Brunswick where I expect them to roll out a fine reception to a Frederic who even spells his name correctly.

Windshield touring at its best

Somehow spring is more glorious here than at home, even without having endured their horrible winter. Over the last week we have seen a most glorious green pop out everywhere as if by magic.

Downtown Portsmouth

The State Street Saloon does a fine chowdah and great lobster roll. My clams were yummy and fresh, but should have been cooked at higher heat more briefly.
